Thursday’s dense fog lifts before noon. Portland turns soggy midafternoon when rain arrives
N.Kim3 months ago
The Portland/Vancouver area is under a dense fog advisory Thursday morning until about 10 a.m., but even once the fog lifts, clouds will replace it, and rain arrives in the afternoon. A check of morning traffic cams showed fog in virtually every corner of the metro area as of 5 a.m. Drivers are warned to slow down, and watch carefully for bicyclists and pedestrians, especially in school zones. Visibility may be down to less than a mile in many locations. #pdxtraffic Dense fog advisory in place until 10 a.m. Thursday morning. It's out there! The beaches should see rain by the early afternoon, and Portland’s rain arrives by midafternoon. Rain will continue into the evening hours. The high will be near 52 degrees. Friday will offer some breaks in the rain but should still be a showery day with a high of nearly 52 degrees. Areas south of about Salem will see fewer showers, but still have the heavy cloud cover. On Veterans Day, rain will return, and winds may be breezy at times. The weather service expects up to about a half inch of rain on Saturday. Temperatures will warm a few degrees to about 55. Sunday has a good chance of rain under mostly cloudy skies. Showers will continue as a system moves over the region. The high will be about 55. Extended forecasts are still not in agreement on next week’s weather with some showing moderate amounts of rain to kick off the week, and others showing a drier Monday, but rain returning Tuesday. Highs should remain in the low-to-mid 50s. A weak incoming system and southwest flow aloft will attribute to warming conditions through the remainder of the week before a slow cooling trend initiates in the early part of next week. High temperatures will stay 5-10 degrees above normal Friday onward. #wawx #orwx pic.twitter.com/0UsZlKasKY — NWS Pendleton November 9, 2023
