HARDING: Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Mount Zion Road, is hosting a chicken barbecue from 5-7 p.m. today. Take-out dinners are available at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $9.50 for adults and $6.50 for children. The cost includes a half chicken, baked potato, cabbage slaw, corn on the cob, roll, beverage and dessert. MOUNTAIN TOP: Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 7768 Blue Ridge Trail, houses the food bank for the Wapwallopen Ministerium. The food bank is open Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment. All contacts are kept strictly confidential. Call 570-868-5675 for an appointment.

The church is still collecting aluminum cans to help raise funds for local families in need. Cans can be placed in large bags and dropped off in the large crates at the back of the lower parking lot of the church.

PITTSTON: St. John’s Lutheran Church, 7 Wood St., is hosting a Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. on Aug. 4-8. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. The theme this year is ‘Pandiamania.’ The school is free and open to children ages 3-12. Volunteers are needed. For more information call Marcia at 570-655-2505.

SUGAR NOTCH: Grace’s Garments in the Parish Hall of Holy Family Church, 828 Main St., is offering free children’s clothing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, beginning on Aug. 16. The clothing items for children of all ages, including teenagers, are donated by parishioners and friends. The store is operated by parish volunteers and is open to the community.

WYOMING: The First Baptist Church, 52 E. 8th St., is holding Vacation Bible School at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11-15. The school is free and kids of all ages are welcome. The two-hour program with Mr. Bill and Ms. Nancy will include prizes, stories, Bible lessons, skits, candy and the General Store. To register, call 570-693-1754.
