The Coaches: Lehman’s Jerry Gilsky (14-10, 3rd year); Redeemer’s Pat Reece (1-2, 1st year)
Last Meeting: Lehman 56-6 in 2011
All-Time Series: Lehman leads 5-0
Quick Fact: Lehman has averaged 44 points in the series.
Scouting Lehman: For the second time in three years, the Black Knights pulled off a dramatic win vs. Wyoming Area. RB Dustin Jones capped the 15-14 win with a two-point run with 24 seconds to play. Drama aside, the victory tossed Lehman back into the District 2 Class 2A playoff picture.
Lehman was expected to ride Jones, a huge tailback, this season. But WBs John Van Scoy and Tom Donovan have added another aspect to the attack. New QB Bill Hillman has improved since a rough opener vs. Old Forge.
Scouting Redeemer: After snapping a 22-game losing streak Monday, the Royals were drilled by Old Forge 56-7 last Friday. QB Jimmy Strickland completed 14 of 26 passes, but for only 95 yards. WR Eric Kerr had another strong game, making 11 catches for 109 yards.
The defense, though, continues to give up too much on the ground. Opponents have rushed for over 300 yards in seven of Redeemer’s last eight games.
What To Expect: Lehman loves to run the ball; Redeemer can’t stop the run. You don’t have to be Knute Rockne to figure out what’s going to happen.
