Mary Pesta, 89, of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully early Friday morning at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Her husband was the late Henry Pesta, who passed away on Nov. 27, 1993. Born on January 26, 1919, in Swoyersville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Kosco Kruzlik. Mary resided in Swoyersville all of her life. She attended the former Holy Trinity School, Swoyersville. Mary was a homemaker most of her life. In her earlier years, she was employed as a machine operator for the former Duplan Silk Mill. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, and its Confraternity of Christian Woman. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and solving crossword puzzles. Mary was a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Henry, she was preceded in death by her son Eugene Pesta, who passed away on April 6, 1995, and brothers, Stephen and Joseph Kruzlik.
Mary is survived by her children, Mary Czock, and her husband Frank, Swoyersville, and Stephen Pesta and his wife, Marlene, Wilkes-Barre; brother William Kruzlik, Swoyersville; grandchildren, Melissa Czok, Christopher and his wife, Brandy Czock, Stephen Pesta, Ian Pesta, Janine Dymond and her husband, D.J., Jennifer Pesta, and Mark Gedeon; a great-granddaughter, Rachel, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral on Monday, March 31, 2008, at 9 a.m. from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Richard J. Cibra, her pastor, officiating. Interment with Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The Confraternity of Christian Women of Holy Trinity Church will recite the Rosary on Sunday, 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania, 57 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, Pa. 18701.
