Mrs. Helen C. Rude, age 101, former East End, Wilkes-Barre resident, died
Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, in Summit Health Care Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Mrs. Rude was born Wyoming, daughter of the late Charles L. and Julia
Foster Cron, and was a graduate of Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. She had
been employed by the former Wilkes-Barre Lace Co., for more than 25 years and
had also been a sales lady in Paterson, N.J., for several years. She had
resided in Dunmore, Forty Fort, New Jersey and Miami, prior to returning to
Wilkes-Barre in 1974. She had resided in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre
most of her life and had been a resident of Washington Square Apartments,
Wilkes-Barre, for some time. Mrs. Rude was a member of the East End Primitive
Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre and was preceded in death by her husband,
William J. Rude; brother, Oscar Cron; and sister, Mrs. Bernice Singley.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Alice Trethaway, Mesa, Ariz.; and several
nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the H. Merritt Hughes
Funeral Home Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Reginald
Thomas, pastor, Messiah Primitive Methodist Church, Bear Creek Township,
officiating. Interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville.

Friends may call Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations be
made to Messiah Primitive Methodist Church, 100-110 Pittston Blvd., Bear
Creek, Wilkes-Barre, 18702-9620.
