Thelma Sova, of Swoyersville, died on Tuesday morning, Aug. 24, 2004, at
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born and raised in Swoyersville, she lived there most of her life. Mrs.
Sova was a daughter of the late Paul and Anna Barilla Bankovich.
She was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School and Wyoming
Seminary School of Business.
In her earlier years, she worked for Genelow Anthracite Mining Company as
an office manager.
A homemaker, she was the original organizer and director of the
Wilkes-Barre Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Mrs. Sova was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wyoming, where she
actively participated in various church affairs and led the daily group
recitation of the rosary.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time
with her family, especially her grandchildren, P.J. and Zakary.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Bankovich, and her
sisters, Helen Bankovich and Margaret Puhak.
Surviving are her husband, Frank~, with whom she would have celebrated her
Paul, married to Lisa Sova, Archbald; two grandchildren, Paul Sova II and
Zakary Sova, Archbald; a brother, Paul Bankovich, Hunlock Creek, and a sister,
Pauline Bankovich, Swoyersville; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the Wroblewski Funeral
Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with a Mass of Christian Burial
at 9 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church, 97 E. 6th St., Wyoming, with the Rev.
Walter F. Skiba officiating.
Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Wyoming.
