I’m in agreement with that guy who said about all the whiners and the
arena, if it was anything else they’d be complaining about that too. The thing
I want to say the most is that all these people complaining about the fighting
in hockey, I’ll bet you $1,000 none of them ever saw a game, ever.

I’m calling about the Phillies’ recent decision to extend Ed Wade’s
contract two years. I think this recent trade regarding Andy Ashby, a local
favorite, is going to blow up in their face and that trade will be his undoing
as well as the Bobby Estalella trade. In both those trades, they gave up good
prospects and Ashby had success on grass.
I’m calling about the fellow that called in about Bobby Sura saying he
isn’t the best ball player out of the valley. He mentioned (Dave) Popson ...
and all those fellows but how many of them played in the NBA? Popson did, but
all he did was warm the bench. I have nothing against our local guys.I’m
hoping they all play good. But Sura is one of the best. I just believe that
this fellow doesn’t like Sura to say what he did.

I heard that Aubin is returning to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton after being in
Pittsburgh for several games. In my opinion, if the Penguins want to keep on
winning, coach Patrick should keep Weninger in there as goalie. He’s proven
himself, a three-game win streak. Aubin hasn’t proved anything yet. Let Aubin
prove himself. Keep Weninger in the game and let’s keep the Penguins winning.

Thank goodness WCW is coming to town. Maybe Corbett will have something
fresh to write about. He’s been getting very boring with this hockey violence.

To all the people in the Wyoming Valley who are bad-mouthing our Penguins.
Shame on you. These guys play their hearts out, they really love the game and
they are only trying to better themselves. To the person who believes the
players are going into schools and hospitals just because it’s part of
advertisement is completely untrue. How do you think Martin Sonnenberg and Tom
O’Connor felt when they visited the hospital the other day with presents for
that little girl who was sick? I bet it made them feel great. Maybe you should
try some charity work. I’m sure it would make you feel better too.

First of all, the Penguins go to school because of community relations.
That’s getting out into the public because maybe the kids would appreciate
meeting a professional hockey player. Boxing is fist-fighting, hockey, if he
noticed, there’s sticks in their hands and they’re playing with a puck. That’s
hockey. Fighting is unfortunately part of hockey but it is not boxing.

The Wilkes men’s basketball team is suffering this past couple of weeks due
to injuries, no depth at the point guard and shooting guard position, four
games in seven days against very quick teams and final exams. It’s very
difficult to play during final exams.

We’re Pittsburgh Penguin fans and we’ve been going to the games for many
years out in Pittsburgh. I just wish the fans here in Wilkes-Barre would get
the chant right. Actually, it’s “Let’s go, Pens! Let’s go, Pens!” If you
could print this, I would appreciate it so they would at least get it right.
