THIS IS FOR Pittston Area coach Steve Armillay. ...
EDITOR’S NOTE: We’re calling a moratorium on Armillay calls, both pro and
con, until somebody has something new to say.

THIS IS FOR everyone complaining about the Yankees spending millions of
dollars for free agents. How about a couple of names, Spencer, Bellinger,
Bernie Williams, Jeter, Soriano, Rivera, Mendoza, Hernandez, Pettitte and
Posada. These are all players who are home grown, farm club-raised Yankees.

IN REFERENCE TO the call that the Yankees buy championships, the Yankees
will buy Barry Bonds next year and they will go on to win yet another pennant,
because they have all the money.

THIS IS FOR the cable companies. Please get us Fox Sports Pittsburgh so
that we can see some decent hockey here for a change.

ON THE REPLAY of the overtime goal the other night against the Bears, the
replay on TV showed in slow motion that the puck never went in. So it was a
ref game at the end, and there was no way it could be made right. Anyway, that
goal never went in.

I’D LIKE TO know what John Erzar’s criteria is for ranking these teams. He
has Abington Heights, a team soundly defeated by Wyoming Valley West and
Williamsport at No. 7, and had five cake walk triple-A games to make them 7-2.
If they were to play Dallas, Wyoming Area, Berwick and Lake-Lehman, that team
would have a losing record.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Erzar doesn’t rank the teams alone. Several factors figure
into the rankings, such as record, state points and how a team is playing at
the time. It’s been an odd season – Wyoming Area beats Berwick, Berwick beats
Valley West, Valley West beats Wyoming Area, etc. – making the rankings far
more difficult than in the past. Aside from No. 1 Lakeland, teams have been
moving up and down throughout the year.

I’M GLAD THE NFL decided to still have the Super Bowl in New Orleans and
not in New York.

hockey team for a great season. You should
be proud that you made it to the district finals when others felt you didn’t
have a chance, but you always did. You proved to everybody you are one of the
best teams in the valley. We love you. Great job, girls.

LAST YEAR DURING the losing streak, I said I wasn’t going to bathe until
the Penguins won. Looks like it’s time again. I’m not going to bathe or wash
my hair or change my clothes until we win a game. Hopefully this works for us
this year.

THIS IS FOR Jeff Barrett, I pay a lot of money for my seats and I want to
see a good team.

YOU WANT TO know why there are so many empty seats for a weekday game, it’s
because of that stupid starting time. They say they do it for the kids, but if
the parents can’t get home and get something to eat, they’re not going to be
taking their kids. The same people who left at 10 o’clock are leaving at 9:30
now. It doesn’t matter. Change the starting time back to 7:30 like a normal
team.

I WAS WATCHING the Penguins play the Flyers last night. Even the
commentators on Comcast Sports were commenting how could the Penguins go from
having a Calder Cup finalist to the team that they have on the ice this year,
that can hardly win a game. Everybody is kind of wondering the same thing,
where did it all go?

EVERYBODY WANTS TO see Coach Patrick fired. I don’t know if I want him
fired, but guess what? It’s never going to happen. He’s Craig Patrick’s
brother. Nepotism has spread all the way from the Wyoming Valley to
Pittsburgh. Glenn Patrick is never going to go unless he wants to.

I WENT TO a Wheeling game a couple of weeks ago. John Brophy was behind the
bench, screaming, yelling, really animated and into the came. He looks like
he’s ready to go out on the ice and fight people. Then I go to a Penguins game
and Glenn Patrick is standing there and I’m looking, and he’s standing there
and I’m looking, and I’m waiting for him to do something, but he never does.
Get Brophy in here, because he’ll stir things up.
