NOW THAT EVAN Kraky is about to break the state passing record, I’d like to
know how far away would Darrell Blackman of Williamsport be – he’s just a
junior – from the state rushing record?

I THINK THE Penguins should try to trade Tibbetts to Philadelphia
organization and get Slaney back. Tibbetts doesn’t belong in Lemieux’s
organization. He’s a Flyers product if ever there was one.
Editor’s note: Billy Tibbetts is expected to be called up to Pittsburgh
today.

TO THE PERSON in Fan Fare who thinks maybe we could do just as good a job
as Glenn Patrick. You’re probably right. I could probably do just as good a
job of leaning against the glass as he does leaning against the glass.

OK, LET’S SEE if we have it straight here. George Curry blames the
officials for the very last call. I saw the replay on WNEP-TV and it didn’t
look like he was even close. I wonder how many Berwick fans are going to call
in and side with George? Did he ever once think of just needed a field goal to
win the game? Obviously not since his arrogance took over. As far as the
officiating, I thought it was one of the best-officiated games I’ve seen in a
long time. I tip my hat to the Wyoming Warriors, who played an excellent game.

MUST GIVE CREDIT where credit is due. Coach Armillay, congratulations for
beating another team with a below-.500 record. Once again, you’re very
consistent with your program. Keep beating those sub-par programs.

PENN STATE FANS, congratulations to Joe Paterno on his 324th win,
surpassing Bear Bryant. But it’s all for naught. Penn State is going nowhere,
they’re still in the cellar and that’s where they will remain. Celebration
short-lived.

Editor’s note: Penn State is tied for sixth in the Big Ten with a 2-3
conference record.

IF PITTSTON AREA football had Paul Marranca, George Curry or Ted Jackson as
coach, the team would go undefeated throughout the season and be state champs.

JUST A COMMENT of congratulations to Joe Paterno. If there’s anything
that’s right about college football, he is the man. Way to go, Joe, and may
you coach another 10 years.

I’M NOT A major 49ers fan, however, they make Terrell Owens out to be this
great, wonderful receiver. I just saw him bobble another pass that got
intercepted and run back for a touchdown and the 49ers lose. For a guy who is
supposedly so great, why does he bobble or drop five or six passes a week?

I WAS AT the First Union Arena on Sunday and I knew the first words out of
somebody’s mouth would be that it was a sellout crowd. Well, for a sellout
crowd there were a lot of empty seats. You may have sold the tickets, but the
people are not coming anymore.

I’VE BEEN WAITING to make this phone call since early September. Hey Penn
State fans, pack up your Brunswicks: We’re going bowling.

chose Robbie Tallas over Richie Parent. What a
joke. Cut him loose.

I HAVE THREE words for coach Patrick. We want Laing.

Editor’s note: Wheeling goalie Joel Laing is 3-3 with a 2.18 goals-against
average and a .921 save percentage for the Nailers.

TO ALL YOU Giant fans, I’m a very happy Pennsylvanian now that the Giants
lost three games in a row, especially losing to the Washington Redskins.

TO ALL YOU New York Yankee fans. The Yankees are going to fall like the
walls of Jericho. Go Arizona Diamondbacks. All the way. Hoorray.

be managed by some brain-dead hockey goons. They
destroyed the spirit of the greatest minor league fans in the American Hockey
League. We were the talk of all the teams in the league. With the present
team, each game shows more empty seats. As a season ticket holder, I’ve lost
pride and confidence in our team and want a winner and stop watching these
losers. The future of local attendance has now started its downward spiral.
Management must find experienced and talented players, especially goaltenders.
Keep less rookies and find the mature player who can handle pressure in the
close games.
