Tinley Park Set To Sparkle In Tree Lighting, Holiday Happenings 2024 Tinley Park's Holiday Happenings are set to begin Friday, Dec. 6, with events planned through Sunday, Dec. 8.TINLEY PARK, IL — The Village of Tinley Park is set to kick off the season, with its highly anticipated Holiday Happenings event set for Friday, Dec. 6.
The event kicks off with the community tree-lighting ceremony at 6:15 p.m. Friday, Dec.6 in Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Ave.
Following a holiday music sing-a-long at 5:15 p.m., Village officials will flip the switch to light the 35-foot community holiday tree.
The Holiday Market is back, too, set to run from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; and 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 in the north lot at the Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street. Stop by the large, heated tent to shop for unique designs and creations while enjoying live music by local groups and entertainers, children's activities and more.

Carousel rides will be available from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Children can also visit Santa inside the Oak Park Avenue train station at 6700 South St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; and 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.
Tickets for complimentary photos will be distributed until 20 minutes prior to Santa's departure. Visitors are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to benefit the Tinley Park Food Pantry.
Horse-drawn carriage rides will run from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 from the Oak Park Avenue train station's kiss-n-ride.
The weekend of festive fun wraps up at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, with the Parade of Lights from 177th Street north down Oak Park Avenue.

Stop by the Vogt Visual Arts Center , 17420 S. 67th Court, for a Holiday Open House and a Trains and Miniatures Exhibit from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.
Christmas Open House
The Tinley Park Historical Society , 6727 W. 174th St., will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6; 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7; and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8. Join them for a Christmas Open House including tours of the museums, cartoons showing in the Chapel, and stories about the people who contributed to the growth of the town. Don't miss Mr. D's Magic Show on Saturday and the Tinley Park Children's Choir on Sunday.
Elf in the Window Contest
Runs Nov. 29 through Jan. 5, in windows throughout downtown Tinley Park.
