Titans QB Will Levis on hard-fought win over Panthers: 'Have to get our mojo back'
After dropping three games in a row, the Tennessee Titans beat the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. For rookie quarterback Will Levis , this was a huge win for the team.
It was a close and hard-fought win for Tennessee, winning 17-10 without scoring in the second half. Still, as Levis explained, this win was huge and gives the Titans something to build on.
“A win is a win,” Will Levis said . “You talk about how hard winning in this league is, and that’s one where you feel like you did it. We got it, and we have to keep building on that and keep rolling from there. It’s the first time in a while we got a win, so it’s a good feeling.”
Will Levis took over as the starting quarterback for Tennessee against the Atlanta Falcons in late October. In that first game, he put up monster numbers. That included four touchdown passes. However, since then, he has quickly slowed down, only throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions in the next four games.
Against Carolina, Levis threw for 185 yards without a touchdown or an interception. It wasn’t an outstanding performance, but the win was something to build on.
“I talked to the guys today about how we’ve got to get our juice back — we have to get our mojo back. It’s tough these past few weeks, looking around after games and seeing the looks in dude’s eyes — dudes that we all know our dogs — and guys that have done this year in and year out,” Levis said.
“Let’s regain that confidence. .... I think getting the win alone is enough to do that, and hopefully we can do that, and get these guys’ confidence back going into Indy.”
With the win, Tennessee moved to 4-7 on the season. Next week, the Titans take on the Indianapolis Colts.
Titans QB Will Levis admits he needs to grow as leaderWill Levis has plenty of room to grow. He knows that and recently highlighted that he needs to grow as a leader.
“At the very least, if you want to be a good leader you have to be someone who leads by example. And works hard and does the right things and is able to be someone that people can come to and ask questions to,” Levis said .
“I feel like in everything that I’ve done, I’ve always wanted to be at the forefront, in the (driver’s) seat. I think I have that innate ability to bring others with me. It’s a tough job to have, but I like having the tough jobs. It’s just kind of how I’m wired, I guess, and I have to keep finding ways to be a better leader.”
