Authorities have announced that, due to high winds and increased fire danger, part of Topanga Canyon Boulevard will be completely closed this week.

In a post to X published at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday, CHP's West Valley Station said that an 11-mile stretch of the canyon roadway – between Mulholland Drive and Pacific Coast Highway – will be shut down starting Wednesday morning at 6 a.m.

The road will remain open to local residents but will be closed to all other traffic, officials said.

It is tentatively scheduled to reopen on Friday at 6 a.m., CHP confirmed. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes during the closure.

The road closure comes as a Red Flag Warning has been issued for most of Southern California. According to the National Weather Service , wind gusts could peak at 80 miles per hour across portions of L.A. and Ventura counties as humidities in the region fall to the single digits.
