Torrance celebrates completion of 405 freeway improvements

A.Davis40 min ago
The city of Torrance hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday to mark the completion of an improvement project on the 405 freeway.

The $59 million project, aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing safety, includes new on-ramps, an additional lane in each direction, and widening the intersection at 182nd St. and Crenshaw Blvd.

Mayor George Chen told KNX News' Nataly Tavidian the new lanes will make it easier to turn onto the freeway at the busy intersection.

"If you want to take the 405 South, it's very easy. Just move right into the right lane and you go right into it," he said. "And if you want to go northbound or southbound, you just stay in the right-hand lane. You don't have to worry about making a potentially risky left turn."
