BLOUNTSTOWN, Fla. ( WMBB ) – The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement is combining an annual event with a new one on Saturday, September 28th in Blountstown.

Starting at 3 p.m. you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the settlement's inaugural "Old-Tyme Country Fair".

Then starting at 5 p.m. all you can eat peanuts will be available for the annual Peanut Boil.

Kids of all ages can enjoy games like ring toss, flush the farmer, balloon darts, cornhole, and more.

The settlement decided to host this event for the first time as it serves as a way for residents to enjoy a community outing the same way pioneers did centuries ago.

"They still got together, the community got together, and they had fun," said Patti Stephens of the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement. "They might have had dances, they had fun little fairs like this, and so we just wanted to bring that back and kind of replicate what it would have been like in the pioneer times to get the community together and have some old-fashioned fun."

There is no cost to enter both the "Old-Tyme Country Fair" and Peanut Boil.

The settlement is closely following the weather this week and asks anyone interested in attending to monitor their Facebook page .

If they do have to reschedule Saturday's events, they will most likely be moved to Saturday, October 5th.
