Tree Lighting Ceremony coming to Fort Sill

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) - Fort Sill is getting in the holiday spirit early with an upcoming tree lighting ceremony. The ceremony is used to mark the start of the holiday season on Fort Sill. "This celebration offers Soldiers, their families and the entire community a joyful way to come together and mark the start of the holiday season," Fort Sill Garrison Commander Col. Derek Baird, said. "We're honored to open our gates and invite everyone to celebrate with us." The tree lighting isn't the only thing happening though earlier in the day the Christkindl Market will be open. This market is a holiday shopping event Fort Sill will be putting where people can enjoy shopping from a variety of different local vendors . The market shopping event will begin at 12:30 p.m. and the lighting ceremony is set to start at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 22, at the Old Post Quadrangle. To participate in these holiday events, visitors must either have a Fort Sill Visitor's pass or a DoD ID card.
