Trio Stole Checks Worth $100K From Wall Businesses' Mail, Cashed Them: Police Officials say the trio forged the checks and stole the money from the businesses; more than $10,000 in cash was seized during their arrests.

WALL, NJ — Three people were arrested after stealing checks worth more than $100,000 from the mailboxes of Wall Township businesses and forging them to take the money, Wall Police said.

James Miller, 37, of Passaic, was charged with theft, 14 counts of forgery, four counts of possession of government documents, uttering a fraudulent document, possession of forgery devices, and receiving stolen property, according to police.

Kaleik Easton, 29, and Asia Harrell, 31, both of Bloomfield, were charged with receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana over five pounds with intent to distribute, and possession of forgery devices, police said.

The three were arrested following a search of their homes in Passaic and Bloomfield on Thursday by Wall Township Police, New Jersey State Police T.E.A.M.S Unit, and the United States Postal Inspection Service.

As a result of the search, police said a 2024 BMW X5, over $10,000 in cash, 13 pounds of marijuana, forgery devices, stolen checks, blank checks, and multiple electronic devices were seized.

"In a coordinated effort that exemplifies the dedication and professionalism of our department, our officers worked tirelessly with other law enforcement agencies to dismantle a mail theft and forgery operation," Wall Police Chief Sean O'Halloran said. "Their commitment to justice has not only safeguarded our community but has also reinforced our commitment to justice. I am incredibly proud of their hard work and determination."

The suspects are currently being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution and are awaiting detention hearings, police said.
