Trump begins to round out cabinet
WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President-elect Donald Trump is wasting no time putting the beginning pieces of his administration together.
"You can see his resolve already and how quickly. Making really good at this," Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) said.
Trump is expected to nominate Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) as secretary of state and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem for Homeland Security Secretary.
He's announced former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin for EPA Administrator.
Florida Congressman Mike Waltz for national security advisor and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee for ambassador to Israel.
Many of President-elect Trump's picks for his new cabinet are coming from Capitol Hill.
"I hope Trump doesn't pick any more," Rep. Steve Scalise, (R-La.) said.
There's a risk with stacking the cabinet with members of the House of Representatives where Republicans are projected to have a slim majority.
For House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) that could be a problem.
"President Trump fully understands the math and its just a numbers game," Speaker Mike Johnson said.
Any House members Trump picks will need to be replaced with a special election and for Trump to help protect the majority.
