A new song inspired by former President Donald Trump was soaring on the music charts Thursday.

"Fighter" reached the top slot on the pop songs chart on iTunes in less than 24 hours. Overall, it ranked in third place.

"What other candidate could withstand what has? My latest release 'Fighter' is for him and everyone who fights alongside him," singer-songwriter Jon Kahn wrote on X.

In the post, Kahn shared a link to a music video that accompanies the song.

"Beautiful. I have to stop watching it so the water will stop falling from my eyes. Thank you for a great song and video," one person wrote. "Absolutely beautiful. The video with the song is perfection - my soul got goosebumps even," another noted.

Kahn shared a photo on Instagram, saying he is humbled by the song's instant success.

Kahn, who voices the song, co-wrote it with Chris Wallin. The song appears to highlight the struggles Trump has faced, not only amid the 2024 president election, but during his time in the White House, as well as ahead of it.

At just under 3 minutes, the music video shows Trump greeting voters at various events through the years. There's footage of him dancing behind a podium at a campaign rally, as well as video of him getting to his feet after the first attempt on his life in Pennsylvania earlier this summer.

In an interview with Breitbart, Kahn said the song was written after he started thinking about how the former president "gets out of bed every day given everything that's been thrown at him and his family."

The lyrics include possible assassination attempts, with the words, "Smiling through the taste of blood/In my own mouth," "So take your shot/Is that all you got?"

Trump on Sunday assured his supporters he was "safe and well" after shots rang out while he was golfing at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach in Florida that afternoon. It marked the second attempt on his life in as many months.

"Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!" he wrote in an email his campaign sent to donors shortly after the incident. "I will always love you for supporting me," he added. "Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again," he added.

Trump was not hurt, according to authorities.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said authorities quickly found the suspect - Ryan Wesley Routh - driving on Interstate 95. He said investigators took the witness to the suspect and an affirmative ID was made. The suspect was then detained and taken into custody.

Authorities said . Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said an unidentified witness told law enforcement agents he spotted a person "running out of the bushes" before jumping into a black Nissan SUV. The witness then snapped a picture of the SUV and shared it with authorities.

"Fortunately, we were able to locate a witness that came to us and said, 'Hey, I saw the guy running out of the bushes. He jumped into a black Nissan, and I took a picture of the vehicle and the tag,'" Bradshaw previously said during a news conference.

In July, Trump was shot in the ear at a rally in Pennsylvania. During the shooting, 50-year-old retired fire chief Corey Comperatore was hit by a bullet while shielding his wife and daughter. He was later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Police said two other people were also seriously hurt. The suspected shooter, who authorities identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was shot and killed at the scene by a Secret Service counter sniper.

As for Sunday's incident, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation and was working to determine a motive.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, meanwhile, said the state will be conducting its own investigation into the the most recent attempted assassination.

"The people deserve the truth about the would be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP nominee," the governor wrote on X shortly after the shooting.
