Trunk shows, demos and Santa at Kitchen Kettle Village

C.Nguyen3 months ago

Retailers in Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse are gearing up for Small Business Saturday and holiday activities.

“We are a small fourth-generation family business, and the village houses a group of small local businesses. So we do small business every day,” says Lisa Horn, Kitchen Kettle spokesperson and director of fun. “Kitchen Kettle Village features over 40 shops, and we’re always looking to improve our guest experience.”

On Small Business Saturday and during the holiday season there will be lots of activities for families. Kitchen Kettle kicks off the holiday season on Black Friday with extended hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Kitchen Kettle’s only Holiday Tasting Tour of the season will be held that evening from 4-7 p.m. There’s also a tree lighting and live music.

On Small Business Saturday, several of the shops have planned trunk shows:

— By Candle Light will host a faux soy lotion trunk show.

— Deerskin Leather will feature a meet-the-maker event with Sheila, the maker of the shop’s branded bag. It’s crafted on-site from full-grain leather that is unfinished to give a cashmere feel.

— Happy Camper, which sells outdoor gear and gifts including coolers, lanterns, backpacks and sweatshirts, will focus on stocking stuffer items.

— The Jewelry Bar will host a holiday charm event with Hayden.

— Village Handmade will host an Artisan Pop Up Market featuring local crafted items like quillows, spice mats and table runners.

Other shops to check out include Ana’s Captivating Designs, which features handmade women’s accessories and layering pieces such as hats, scarves, pins and mittens. Jakpot Ceramics, features functional pottery made by hand by Washington Boro potter Julie A. Kizeik. Heritage Gallery Outdoor Art features artwork for gardens and outdoor spaces.

Aged and Cured offers snack items, a variety of cheeses and hot sauces, which Horn says are great for stocking stuffers. The Jam & Relish Kitchen has a variety of gift baskets and boxes.

“The gift of food is something everyone appreciates. It can be a hostess gift, a stocking stuffer or something for that hard-to-buy-for person,” she says.

Guests can see jams and jellies being made in The Jam & Relish Kitchen and pick up some recipes to use the products. Santa will be available for visits with kids and photos, so parents should be sure to bring their cameras.

Staff at Pepper Lane Fudge & Sweets will demonstrate fudge making. A hot chocolate bar, s’more making and kids’ cookie decorating will be offered outside the Harvest Café. Guests can take the s’more kits home or roast s’mores at the fire pits scattered throughout the village. “Who doesn’t love making s’mores? We have lots of adults that say they haven’t made s’mores since they were a scout,” Horn says.

Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends and Dinner with Mrs. Claus and Yummie both launch on Small Business Saturday and will be held Saturdays through Dec. 16. Tickets are required for the Holiday Tasting Tour, Holiday Fun with Santa and Friends and Dinner with Mrs. Claus and Yummie. They can be purchased online at www.kitchenkettle.com/seasonal-fun .
