After a COVID-induced hiatus, Dove of Peace Lutheran Church is resurrecting its "Jazz Under the Stars" concert.

Tucson vocalist Joe Bourne will headline the signature event on Saturday, Oct. 5, for the first time since the pandemic.

Backed by a trio, Bourne is presenting his popular Nat King Cole show, hitting the highlights of the famous jazz singer and pianist's extensive song catalogue.

Bourne, who has performed around the globe in a career that goes back decades, is best known in Tucson for his interpretation of Cole and other artists from the Great American Songbook, as well as singing blues, R&B and pop standards.

Saturday's concert begins at 6 p.m. at Dove of Peace's open-air patio, 665 W. Roller Coaster Road, just west of North Oracle Road. Admission is free and includes complimentary wine and cheese, and baked goods.

In addition to its jazz program, Dove of Peace hosts an annual classical music series. Admission to those events is free, although the church accepts donations that are designated for local nonprofits. Details: Call 520-887-5127 or visit doveofpeacetucson.org .
