TUSCUMBIA, Ala. ( WHNT ) — On Monday, the Tuscumbia City Council approved a fee for those applying for jobs with the city.

On August 26, the Civil Service Board approved a resolution stating that they would begin charging those applying for city jobs a $10 application fee.

At the city council meeting on Sept. 16, the council members approved the motion.

The board members said the fee came as a result of multiple people applying for jobs with the city and then not showing up.

Up until now, when applying for jobs with the city, a background check is initiated, costing the City of Tuscumbia anywhere between $25 and $100 per application.
