CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - It's Hispanic Heritage Month, and during this celebration, we highlight women who have not only led in this community but made a difference every day. Chispa has honored 23 Hispanic Women of Influence with a photography expedition. The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is displaying its newest hispanic exhibition to showcase the meaningful work this group of ladies has put into helping build our Cheyenne community. "Some of the Hispanic women right here in Cheyenne who have given so much to our community through volunteerism through creating opportunities for women for children for families over the span of many, many decades," said Jill Lovato, Executive Director for Friends of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens. These leaders range from business owners to instructors to teachers. Debbie Martinez Photography took the pictures in the showcase. Earlier this month, Chispas also kicked off its weeks-long Hispanic Festival, followed by a proclamation signing by Mayor Patrick Collins this week. "Cheyenne is this wonderful community and they need to see that lots of people care about our community, and hispanic women do. They work really hard for our community, and I think they should be you know showcased," said Debbie Martinez, Owner and & Photographer of Debbie Martinez Photography. Recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month was established as a month-long celebration by Ronald Regan and runs from September 15 to October 15th to commemorate the Independence date of seven Latin American countries. The photography exhibition, along with the Calaveras Catrinas, will continue throughout Hispanic Heritage Month until mid-November. The display is free for the public.
