Twitter Gays Are Promising Nudes for Votes: ‘Don’t Underestimate Horny People’

Pole for poll? As Americans logged onto X on Election Day to get the latest update on the presidential race, Johnny McCarty, or was promising his followers that he'd post a nude picture to celebrate if Kamala Harris won the election. He hasn't been the only one. "It's a tactic that I use and it actually works," says McCarty with a laugh. "I'm a huge fan of Megan Thee Stallion. When she dropped 'Hiss,' I told my following, 'If this goes Number One, I'll drop a nude.' I had to stay true to my word and I posted it." This time the stakes are a lot more serious than Megan's chart placement, and McCarty is also staying true to the advocacy of his favorite artist , who's joined Harris on the campaign trail. For McCarty, who is a Black gay man living in Mississippi, it's Donald Trump's anti-LGBTQ stance that has motivated this Hottie to vote — and incentivize others to do the same. "I get a lot of positive feedback when I do post thirst traps, and 90 percent of the people follow me to see me taking off my shirt," says McCarty, who spoke to Rolling Stone right after casting his ballot. "I don't think I'll put a permanent dent in increasing the people voting, but if I get one or two people to vote, then I feel like I've made an impact." If Harris wins, McCarty, who ran an OnlyFans account during Covid, will be posting a dick pic for a few minutes — and he's sure his followers aren't going to miss the post when he does. "Sex really does move people," he says. One account on X, which declined an interview with Rolling Stone but answered questions via DM, said they were serious about posting a dick pic if Harris won, but their post ended up getting a lot more engagement than they expected. Other prominent gay Twitter accounts offered to "post pole" if their followers voted for Harris, but tell Rolling Stone it was a "bait-and-switch" to convince their horny followers to vote for the vice president. Editor's picks "It's been a running joke that I don't post nudity on my platform," Brian Diaz, or tells Rolling Stone. "I [wanted to] spread encouragement, even if it's [through] sex-friendly banter." Diaz has built his X following of 407,000 by having "sex-friendly conversations" and posting frequent thirst traps on his account. Diaz, who lives in the battleground state of Arizona, sees feeding into his followers' desires to see his nudes as using his platform for good. "Sex sells, and this election is so consequential for me that you have to push the boundary to get people out there and let your voice be heard," Diaz says. "I do have a platform and a responsibility to influence people." More than 1,000 accounts bookmarked Diaz's post and many others replied saying they screenshotted the tweet, promising they'd return to the account if Harris wins the election. One user even shared a photo of their ballot, and promised he "got 7 other people to vote" this election, hoping to get Diaz to share a nude. "For those who didn't vote and who think their vote doesn't matter, just consider how close every past election has been," Diaz says. "Your vote definitely matters and you need to make yourself heard." Trending Stories Gerardo Huerta, gerrarrdo00 on X, had similar intentions when he promised to share nudes if his followers voted for Harris. He says with a giggle that most of his 27,500 followers follow him because "I'm just attractive," and he often teases them about posting NSFW photos. "I do want Kamala to win so if I can influence that for good, then maybe teasing my followers is what I have to do," Huerta says. For the Riverside, California native, women's rights were top of mind when he voted. "Don't believe everything you see on the internet, and don't underestimate horny people!"
