Two arrested at middle school football game

Sep. 21—Two individuals were arrested following a disturbance at a Winfree Bryant Middle School football game on Tuesday.

As Winfree Byrant played against Hartsville's Satterfield Middle School in Lebanon, a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation. Hartsville residents James Brewer, 34, and Jessi Harris, 34, were both taken into custody following the altercation.

"School resource officers promptly intervened to deescalate the situation," the Wilson County Sheriff's Office stated in a release. "Additional deputies from the Wilson County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from the Lebanon Police Department, were dispatched to assist with crowd control. Following an on-scene investigation, Brewer and Harris were identified as the primary aggressors."

Brewer was charged with disorderly conduct and assault. Harris was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct and assault. According to the sheriff's office, Harris is Brewer's partner.

Both Brewer and Harris were booked into the Wilson County Correctional Facility and were released on bond.

"The Wilson County Sheriff's Office takes incidents of this nature seriously," the sheriff's stated in the release. "Threatening or violent behavior, especially at family-oriented events such as school games, will not be tolerated. We encourage all attendees to conduct themselves with respect and consideration for others. Law enforcement will continue to ensure the safety of all attendees and hold accountable those who choose to act unlawfully."
