TWO HARBORS, Minn. (Northern News Now) - If you're driving through Two Harbors, you might want to stop at the many events on Friday and Saturday.

The summer's final Moonlight Music and Market was held on Friday and featured live music from the Northwood's Band.

On 1st Avenue each month of summer, folks have a chance to shop and play family games while enjoying specialty food and drinks from the many businesses on the street.

If you missed the chance to attend the Moonlight Music and Market, there's more happening on Saturday.

The first-ever Lake Superior fish boil will coincide with the Two Harbors Farmers Market held at Burlington Station.

For the event, organizers brought in about 400 pounds of whitefish that will be served with your normal fish boil mix-ins at either 3 p.m., 5 p.m., or 7 p.m.

According to Michelle Peterson with Lovin' Lake County, these events are put on with the help of a lodging tax and grant program.

"We get a lodging tax and 25% of that goes to events like this and festivals. We're able to give grants to local organizations and businesses and they put them on," said Peterson.

The goal of the inaugural event is to highlight the strong tradition of commercial fishing on the North Shore by boiling fish from the lake right in front of you before it's served thanks to Lou's Fish House.

"We wanted to keep everything really local and really fresh and bring something to the community where we can have fun and a fish boil to come together," said Chef Paul Lukens.

There is a $25 charge to participate in one of the three serving times.

The event also helped raise money for the Two Harbors soccer club.

These events mark the end of summer but Peterson is ready for the fall and winter tourism seasons.

"We're really, really excited about fall. You can see the leaves changing and people are coming up so it's going to be a great season," said Peterson. "There's no way we're going to have the same winter so we're really excited to get snowmobilers up here and have a great season."
