Two men arrested after traffic stop

HENDERSON — Members of the Vance County Sheriff's Office Narcotics unit attempted to conduct a vehicle stop at the intersection of Vicksboro and Puckett Road on Nov. 8.

The driver of the vehicle accelerated away from the scene and led detectives on a pursuit that ended when the suspects crashed on Tower Lane.

The three occupants fled on foot and were taken into custody a short time later on Pete Abbott Lane. During the investigation, a trafficking amount of heroin was seized.

Detectives charged Christopher Gray and Nigel Torres with two counts each of trafficking heroin, maintaining a vehicle to keep controlled substances and felony flee to elude arrest.

The third suspect involved was identified as a 16-year-old male. A 2017 Honda Accord was seized under the NC Run and Done Law.

Gray received a $60,000 secure bond. Torres, who was out on pretrial release, was placed in the Vance County Jail under no bond for 48 hours.
