Two Philadelphia men have pleaded guilty to robbery and related offenses for stealing a running car in Sharon Hill last year then abandoning it minutes later.
Allon Ruffin, 27, pleaded to two counts of robbery and was sentenced to 3 to 12 years in a state prison.
He is not eligible for early release, but was given credit for time served from Dec. 13, 2023, under the negotiated guilty plea worked out by Assistant District Attorney Brian Denk and defense counsel Michael Walker.
Marquese Alexander, 28, was sentenced to 10 to 20 years after pleading guilty to one count each of robbery, conspiracy to robbery and possession of a firearm prohibited. He was also given the same amount of credit time and is not eligible for early release, under the plea struck by Denk and defense attorney Tashawna Quamira Page.
According to information previously provided by police :
A woman drove her 2012 Chevrolet Malibu to the 7-Eleven at 1307 Chester Pike on the afternoon of Oct. 1, 2023, and left it running while she went inside the store.
The victim saw two men hop into her car and begin to drive off. She ran out of the store, drew her legally owned and permitted firearm, and shot at the Malibu as it sped away.
The victim was not charged in the incident and police were able to identify Ruffin and Alexander from video surveillance. They were arrested Oct. 18 on charges stemming from an unrelated incident in Philadelphia.
The car was found a few blocks away about 15 minutes later.
In addition to prison time, Common Pleas Court Judge Margaret Amoroso ordered both defendants to provide a DNA sample to state police and have no contact with the victim.
