SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two men from Springfield were found guilty of the 2019 murder of Charles White.

Kaevon Brimfield, 31, and Gilfrey Gregory, 32, both of Springfield, have been found guilty of murder by a Hampden County Superior Court jury in connection with the 2019 killing of Charles White. The verdict was delivered on September 20, 2024, following a trial in Springfield.

The charges stem from a June 9, 2019, incident when Chicopee Police responded to a report of gunfire at 2 Springfield Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered White had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni condemned the crime as a "cruel and senseless murder of a completely innocent victim," expressing hope that the verdict offers White's family some sense of justice. Gulluni also praised the collaborative work of law enforcement and prosecutors, particularly the Chicopee Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit, for their roles in bringing the suspects to justice.

Key to the prosecution was Chief Trial Counsel and Assistant District Attorney Max Bennett, who led the case with Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Vasiliades. Bennett worked closely with the White family and expressed his commitment to securing justice for them.

Brimfield and Gregory were apprehended after an extensive investigation. Brimfield, who was added to the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted List, was arrested in New York City in June 2019. Gregory fled the area and was stopped by the New Mexico Highway Patrol on June 13, 2019, while driving a rental car. He was arrested and later extradited to Massachusetts.

A third defendant, Namel Clark, 31, also of Springfield, is still facing charges related to White's murder. Clark was arrested at his home in June 2019 and remains in custody without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 4, 2024.

Both Brimfield and Gregory now face sentencing for their roles in White's murder, bringing some closure to a case that has spanned more than five years.
