Uber full of passengers hit during local police chase: Officials

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – An Uber with four passengers was struck during a police chase that started in Garfield Heights and continued into Cleveland .

The incident unfolded at about midnight on Thursday, Sept. 19.

The suspect vehicle rear-ended a black SUV at the intersection of E. 131th Street and Harvard Avenue.

The suspect vehicle continued to flee for about another half mile until it crashed at E. 116th Street.

The driver was taken into custody. Several other suspects fled on foot.

Officials tell FOX 8 that the SUV that was rear-ended was an Uber and had 4 passengers. Five people were transported from the crash scene to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, according to EMS.

There's been no word on what prompted the chase.
