Union County voters approve $39M school bond referendum
UNION COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Voters in Union County have approved a $39 million bond referendum that will go toward school improvements.
A new school will be constructed for Parkwood High while a new facility will be built for East Union Middle School at the Forest Hills High campus.
"We needed this bond and I want to thank Union County residents for approving this project," said Superintendent Dr. Andrew Houlihan.
The process is expected to begin next year.
"The funding from this bond will allow us to begin a design for a new Parkwood High and move East Union Middle to a more modern and spacious facility. For more than 20 years, Union County voters have supported school bonds and this shows that our community value public schools, a quality education and safe facilities. When we have a successful bond, more projects can move up on the list to address capital needs."
