In the true spirit of Texas, Uniqlo is going big for its Lone Star State brick-and-mortar debut with five stores set to open in the Dallas and Houston areas in October.

As part of the buildup to the grand openings , the Japanese retailer has partnered with local businesses, organizations and artists for pop-up activations and a Texas-themed campaign.

Uniqlo opened pop-up kiosks at the Memorial City Mall in Houston and Galleria Dallas in Dallas. The kiosks are open during each mall's regular hours, now through Wednesday, Oct. 9, and Wednesday, Oct. 16, respectively.

The pop-ups include interactive experiences, free round minishoulder bags for new Uniqlo app members, complimentary LifeWear magazines and more. Visitors also can preview Uniqlo LifeWear and exclusive designs from the retailer's UTme program — a print-on-demand service for T-shirts and tote bags.

Dallas and Houston artists created the limited edition designs, inspired by Texas culture and Uniqlo's Japanese heritage. The exclusive designs by Dear Giana, Michelle Spearman, Olmo Market, David Maldonado and others will officially launch at the grand openings for the permanent stores in Memorial City Mall and Galleria Dallas on Friday, Oct. 11, and Friday, Oct. 18, respectively.

Grand openings will feature exclusive promotions, giveaways and "special community-driven experiences" showcasing local nonprofit organizations.

Here are the other Texas store grand openings scheduled for October:

  • First Colony Mall, Houston – Friday, Oct. 18
  • The Parks Mall at Arlington, Arlington – Friday, Oct. 25
  • Stonebriar Centre, Frisco – Friday, Oct. 25
  • In celebration of the new stores, Uniqlo has launched its Texas People Campaign through which they're "spotlighting everyday Texans who exemplify the heart and spirit of their communities." Artists, entrepreneurs and athletes from Dallas and Houston are featured in the campaign wearing Uniqlo LifeWear, showcasing the brand's versatility and ability to integrate into diverse lifestyles.

The Texas People Campaign will be displayed across all Texas Uniqlo stores.

Uniqlo executives previously shared they anticipate the brand thriving in Texas with its brick-and-mortar launch.

"We are thrilled to be coming to Texas, a state where we have seen positive customer demand," said Yoshidhide Shindo, CEO of Uniqlo USA.

Even without the brick-and-mortar stores, Texas has been Uniqlo's third largest e-commerce market, behind New York and California, which have both had Uniqlo locations for several years.

Uniqlo currently has more than 60 stores across 13 states in the U.S.
