On Saturday, the United Way of Morgan County held its Sixth Annual Amazing Race-Inspired Fundraiser, "United We Race," at Riverside Park in Fort Morgan. This event raises funds to support individuals and families in need of health, education, and financial stability.

Monies raised through the event support organizations that assist individuals and families needing health, education, and financial stability by providing food access, affordable housing, and resources for children and youth.

This year, the Amazing Race had 17 teams of two competing in a series of mini-challenges to test their physical and mental abilities. Challenges included slingshot paintballs at targets, figuring out a combination to open a lock, Using a large bouncy ball to navigate a course, and cracking eggs on each other's heads until they found a hard-boiled egg.

After completing a challenge, teams get a clue to their next destination to their final destination and victory. A group rock-paper-scissors contest was held as a finale, with cheering for winners and a blast of powdered chalk for the losers. The event is fun and supports the United Way of Morgan County.

The Western Sugar Team, the Western Sugar Beets, took first place and the traveling trophy. The trophy, engraved with the winners' names, will be passed on in next year's event. Sponsors donated door prizes, valued from a few dollars to $150, and there were enough for everyone who participated.
