EARLIER: The Davenport Fire Department has released details about yesterday's fire at a city storage building.
A news release says that the department ws called to a structure fire in the 200 block of S. Marquette Street on Wednesday, October 30 at about 9:53 a.m. Scott County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from an employee about a storage building on fire. They responded with six apparatus, a command vehicle and 19 personnel.
The first fire company on the scene found heavy fire conditions from the entire north end of a large pole building-type structure. People who were inside the building at the time safely evacuated. Two ladder trucks were set up due to the size of the fire and roof conditions. After the majority of the fire was knocked down, hand lines were used to extinguish hot spots. Crews were able to contain the fire to the north end of the building, but remained on stie for several hours to ensure the fire was out.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
