UPDATE: Chrisman gas leak ‘under control’

The Chrisman Fire Department has left the scene of the gas leak. Workers are still on scene, but as of 7:15 p.m. on Monday, the leak is under control. The Chrisman Fire Department said workers should "be done blowing it down" around 8:30 p.m. but were unable to estimate when it will be fully fixed. The roads around Hoult Cemetery have been reopened. The pipeline that was leaking is owned by Midwestern Gas, according to Chrisman Fire. WCIA reached out to Midwestern Gas for a comment and is waiting to hear back. Chrisman, Ill. (WCIA) — Chrisman Fire posted this update to their Facebook page. "Pipeline is still bleeding the line off so they can safely make repairs down the line somewhere. Fire Department is heading back to town. Please still avoid the area." CHRISMAN, Ill. According to the department's Facebook page , the "large gas leak" is on the pipeline on the southeast of town. They also said that pipeline is "bleeding the line down" towards the south of town. Chrisman fire estimated that the line should be bled down around 6:30 p.m. The roads are being blocked in the area as a precaution. WCIA reached out to Chrisman Fire about the gas leak and is waiting to hear back.
