More than 49,000 votes remain to be counted across Fresno County following the Nov. 5 general election , and updated results this week offer more clarity in many of the dozens of seats on city councils, school boards and special districts in the county. But there are some very close races for which more votes could still sway the results, including Fresno City Council District 6 in northeast Fresno, city council seats in Mendota, Parlier and San Joaquin, and the fate of school bonds for the State Center Community College District, Clovis Unified School District , and the Kingsburg Joint Union High School District. The collection of data charts below reflect the latest available results from the Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of voters as of Tuesday evening, Nov. 12. The county is not expected to release another update until Friday afternoon. Donald Trump landed in Washington Wednesday to celebrate Republicans' soon-to-be control over the White House and Congress, and visit lame-duck President Joe Biden in person. Trump and Biden were seated in chairs next to each other by a crackling fire in the Oval Office for a photo opportunity ahead of their first official transition meeting. "Politics is tough and in many cases it's not a nice world but it is a nice world today," Trump said in their roughly one-minute appearance before cameras. Democratic strategist David Axelrod argued President-elect Trump's second administration has a "wholly different feel" from his first team. "Say what you will about the direction he wants to take the country but this is a wholly different feel from 2016. Trump is stocking his admin with seasoned loyalists who will not guide, but rather BE... Lock up your dogs 'cause Kristi Noem is back. Donald Trump confirmed on Tuesday that the South Dakota governor will serve as Homeland Security secretary in his upcoming administration. "Kristi has been very strong on Border Security," Trump wrote in a statement. "I have known Kristi for years, and have worked with her on a wide variety of projects—she will be a great part of our mission to Make America Safe Again." President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump met in the Oval Office for nearly two hours on Wednesday, resuming a hallmark of America's peaceful transfer of power that Trump himself flouted in 2020. President Biden spoke first, calling for a "smooth transition" and telling Trump he would do "everything we can to make sure you're accommodated." "Politics is tough, and it's, in many cases, not a very nice world but it is a nice world today," Trump said. Members of President-elect Donald Trump's transition team are drawing up a list of military officers to be fired, potentially to include the Joint Chiefs of Staff, two sources said, in what would be an unprecedented shakeup at the Pentagon. The planning for the firings is at an early stage after Trump's Nov. 5 election victory and could change as Trump's administration takes shape, said the sources, who are familiar with the Trump transition and requested anonymity to speak candidly about the plans. One of the sources questioned the feasibility of a mass firing at the Pentagon.
