UTPB to offer admission to nearly 900 ECISD students

ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The University of Texas Permian Basin said it will be offering admission to nearly 900 students across the Ector County Independent School District as part of its "Direct Admissions Program". The program looks to provide automatic admission for qualified seniors, streamlining their journey to college.

By offering this pathway, UTPB said it reinforces its mission to make college more accessible and attainable. The UTPB Admissions team said it will be visiting ECISD high schools over the next couple weeks on the following dates:

Permian High School – Thursday, November 14

Odessa Collegiate Academy and OCTECHS – Friday, November 15

New Tech Odessa – Monday, November 18

Odessa High School – Wednesday, November 20

STEM Academy – Thursday, November 21

"We are excited to continue our partnership with ECISD, providing a seamless path to higher education for students in our community," said Dr. Becky Spurlock, Senior Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. "This program reflects UTPB's commitment to making college accessible for all and ensuring that higher education remains within reach for every student."

"UTPB's direct admissions program streamlines the process of applying for college, making it easier for our students to enter college and continue to pursue their academic dreams," said ECISD Interim Superintendent Dr. Keeley Boyer. "Simply removing some of the challenges of applying makes a college education more accessible and attainable for hundreds of ECISD students. This is a partnership that truly transforms lives through opportunity."
