Vancouver woman accused of strangling cat

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A woman was arrested on an animal cruelty charge after she was seen allegedly strangling a cat in the lobby of a Vancouver apartment complex on Thursday, officials said.

Vancouver police officers at the apartment complex on an unrelated call were approached by the building manager who claimed a woman visiting another tenant was seen strangling the cat.

Officers soon found and arrested the woman on a charge of first-degree animal cruelty.

Officials said the cat, named Apollo, was "fortunately okay" and taken to the Humane Society.

No further information, including the identity of the woman, has been released at this time.
