Sports 'Very Clean!' Commanders' Jayden Daniels Gets Network Praise

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels got his first win as a starting quarterback on Sunday. He led the Commanders offense to scoring drives every time they had the ball in the win.

On Tuesday, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah was a guest on the Rich Eisen Show and was very complimentary of the level of play displayed by Daniels.

"I had a chance to go through Jayden's stuff (film) this morning," Jeremiah said. "I thought he played clean. He took a bunch of sacks in that game, but I thought they did a nice job designing to get the ball out of his hands quick."

Daniels was sacked five times on the day after only taking one sack in the regular season opener. Getting rid of the ball quickly is something the Commanders have worked on throughout camp and so far, this season.

"His mind looked like it was working really fast, like somebody who has played a lot of football, which he has," Jeremiah continued. "I thought he did some really nice things, trying to keep the ball out of harm's way downfield."

Daniels is beginning to develop a real connection with receiver Terry McLaurin who can be a valuable downfield asset if Daniels just lets it fly. The former Ohio State Buckeye finished the game with six receptions, but he only had 22 total yards.

That has to change moving forward. The Commanders need splash plays from the offense. They won't be able to grind out 10-12 play drives every time. They need some quick strike scores to keep the defense honest and open up the whole field for Daniels.

The Commanders travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals in primetime on Monday Night Football.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
