Victoria Beckham spices up her after-show champagne at Paris Fashion Week... with a dash of her new £170 perfume (à la Chanel!)

As a leading designer, Victoria Beckham has a nose for a good idea. And faced with promoting her new perfume at her Paris Fashion Week after-show party, she scented an opportunity.

On Friday night, the former Spice Girl served guests champagne infused with her latest fragrance – a feat attempted before only by Chanel .

The glasses of Perrier-Jouet champagne had an edible dash of her opulent new perfume. It is thought Chanel's Cocktail No 5 in 2009 – created from the iconic Chanel No 5 – is the only precursor to this.

The unique flavouring at Victoria's party – concocted from her £170-per bottle 21:50 Reverie fragrance and combined with ingredients from around the world – took a year to make, according to those close to the Beckhams.

It was then dropped into the fizz, glass by glass, so that those gathered in the glorious setting of Chateau de Bagatelle – where her catwalk show had taken place – could taste the scent. One impressed guest said: 'It tasted lovely, it was such a special thing for Victoria to do.

'She wanted to give her supportive friends and family a lovely treat but also let everyone know what her new fragrance smells like, as she is very proud of it.

'The whole making of the drink wasn't easy to do but it was well worth it.'

It was quite the party for Mrs Beckham, who earlier had unveiled her latest collection with her family, including husband David and four children in the front row.

Guests arriving for the party were directed to walk through a large, dark green 21:50 Reverie 'bottle' – tapping into the theme sparked by the perfume's name, which means being pleasantly lost in thought, like a daydream.

Mrs Beckham, 50, was also seen being followed around the party by David, 49, who helpfully topped her glass up with red wine as she mingled with her friends and guests, including actress Sofia Vergara, Eva Longoria and supermodel Helena Christiansen.

As for the goodie bag, Mrs Beckham gave each of her guests a bottle of her new fragrance and a dark green blanket to match.

Her latest perfume was inspired by a trip to the Indonesian island of Java with David back in 2001. There she was said to be 'enchanted by its ancient, aromatic nature'.

Elsewhere at Paris Fashion Week, supermodel Gigi Hadid proved she is the whole package in a DHL logo frock.

Wearing the strapless, skintight yellow and red mini dress which gave the illusion that she was wrapped in yellow and red packaging tape, Ms Hadid, 29, walked the Swiss luxury fashion house Vetements show.
