In Lavaca and DeWitt counties, voters rejected a Yoakum ISD tax rate increase. The measure was defeated by 61%. The proposed tax increase was 1 dollar per $100 of property valuation. Yoakum ISD would have gained $857,000 if the increase passed.
Lavaca county voters are also not in favor of passing the $25 million Hallettsville ISD bond. The proposal called for an 8 cent increase to the district's tax rate, which would have funded the construction of new facilities for physical education, fine arts, and the athletics department.
