DETROIT - Body cam footage from Melvindale Police Officer Mohamed Said was played in court Monday and showed the final moments of his life before he was killed on July 21.

According to the Detroit News, the video shows Said speaking with the suspect - identified as 44-year-old Michael Lopez - after he saw Lopez flick a cigarette butt to the ground.

While he cooperated with Said at first, Lopez eventually fled from the officer, who gave chase, authorities have said. At some point Said was able to deploy his Taser at Lopez and the men fell to the ground. It's at that point that Said can be heard pleading with the suspect, who allegedly fired at the officer.

"Stop running, stop, help help, I'll leave it," Said is heard saying, according to Fox 2 Detroit.

A single gunshot is then heard.

In July, shortly after the shooting, Melvindale Police Chief Robert Kennaley reported that Said was "killed instantly."

Lopez was arrested a day after the incident and is charged with numerous felonies, including murder of a peace officer, felony firearms and drug possession. During Monday's court proceedings, District Court Judge Gregory Clifton determined there was enough evidence to bind the case over to Circuit Court, where Lopez will stand trial.

The incident took place less than a month after Lopez was released from prison. According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, Lopez after served more than 12 years for a carjacking conviction in 2012 before being released on June 22. He was originally sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
