Video shows Penske truck slamming into vehicle, narrowly missing highway worker

LISLE, NY (Gray News) - Video captured the moment a Penske truck driver slammed into a vehicle and narrowly missed a highway worker in a work zone in New York.

State police said the box truck driver, Muhammed A. Wesley, 36, of Phoenix, was driving on Interstate 81 when he failed to observe the work zone and two New York State Department of Transportation vehicles on the side of the road.

This is when the video shows the highway worker standing between both vehicles, throwing his arms out in warning before the box truck hits both NYSDOT vehicles. The highway worker was able to run out of the way as debris went flying and both trucks ran up an embankment.

Troopers said no injuries were reported.

NYSDOT shared the video, encouraging drivers to "slow down, move over if possible, and stay alert in work zones—these simple actions can save lives."
