Video shows suspects drive truck into Giant in Germantown, try to steal money from ATM

GERMANTOWN, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police said three people were caught on camera driving a pick-up truck through a Giant Food in Germantown in an attempt to steal cash from the ATM.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), said on Sept. 16 just before 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the Giant on Leaman Farm Road for a burglary.

Their investigation revelaed that three people reveresed a Dodge Ram 1500 through the main entrance of the grocery store, causing significant damage and knocking over displays.

That's when the group got out of the truck inside the store and tried to open the ATM machine.

Maryland State Police warn residents of Gmail scheme

A video , released by detectives, shows the suspects hitting the ATM several times. After numerous attempts to open the machine, the group was unsuccessful and drove away.

MCPD said as the group tried to escape, the truck stopped working in the business's parking lot. From there, the trio exited the vehicle and started running.

Detectives also learned the Dodge was stolen from Germantown.

The investigation is ongoing and MCPD is asking for the community's help in identifying the suspects.

Anyone with information is urged to call 866-411-8477 or enter a tip . MCPD said tips with information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward from $250 up to $10,000.
