Vote for our Week 7 high school football game of the week

Kenosha County football teams are entering the final stretch of the regular season. The race to wrap up playoff spots are tight and many key games could prove crucial in Week 7 in deciding teams' outlook with such little time remaining.

It's time again to vote for the Kenosha News' Game of the Week. Pick the game we should cover, and we'll be there.

Voting closes at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Racine Park (0-6, 0-4 SEC) at Bradford (2-4, 2-2 SEC), 7 p.m. Friday

The Red Devils have experienced a season of high-highs and low-lows. That trend continued in Week 6 with a 38-7 loss at Franklin in Southeast Conference action.

Yet, if Bradford's seasonal pattern is to continue, this should be the week the team springs back into the win column.

Bradford lost its first two games, won its next two and finds itself in the midst of a two-game skid. While the loss to Franklin, ranked fifth in the latest Associated Press state poll for large division schools, undoubtedly hurt — it also provided a measuring stick that Bradford can use to chart a positive course for the rest of the season.

The Red Devils' two wins this season came with a balanced attack on offense. During those wins: quarterback Sebastian DeRosa has completed 64.9% of his 37 pass attempts for 337 yards and three touchdowns while running back Ethan Childers has led the ground game with 195 yards on 49 carries with five touchdowns. The duo of DeRosa and Childers will look to bounce back big against Park — who remain winless while being outscored 199-41 this season.

Racine Horlick (5-1, 3-1 SEC) at Indian Trail (2-4, 1-3 SEC), 7 p.m., Friday

As noticed in our most recent Kenosha News' Game of the Week — Racine Horlick have a good thing going this season.

The Rebels were a 1-8 team a season ago with a Southeast Conference record of 1-6. They roll into Kenosha on Friday looking to complete three successive wins over Kenosha County schools — having defeated Bradford and Tremper by a combined 96-20.

There is no reason to believe the high scoring Rebels will slow down, either. But that has far more to do with the recent history in their contests played against the Hawks.

The last three games between Indian Trail and Horlick have seen the two teams throw caution — and defense — to the wind and give scoreboard operators everywhere anxiety. 2021, Horlick won 51-49 in Racine. 2022, Horlick won 54-21 at Jaskwhich Stadium in Kenosha. 2023, Indian Trail won 49-38 in Racine — the Hawks first win over the Rebels since a 45-26 victory in 2019 at Racine.

It hasn't been the easiest of seasons for the Hawks. But, for quarterback Joel Perez and company, if there ever was a game to ignite a final push to the finish line — playing against the Rebels always appears to be a powder keg ready to blow.

Waterford (2-4, 2-2 SLC) at Westosha Central (4-2, 3-1 SLC), 7 p.m., Friday

The Falcons are flying high entering Week 7 — and they have every reason to be soaring.

Westosha Central is coming off of a 27-9 win over Southern Lakes Conference foes Union Grove. Two key fumble recoveries on defense and an offense leaning on a steady dose of running behind Mason Juga and Landon Taylor allowed for a second successive win for the Falcons.

Now the Falcons turn their attention to a surging Waterford. The Wolverines opened their season with four straight losses while being outscored 139-27. That slow start looks to have been shaken off after two straight conference wins on the road against Union Grove and Elkhorn.

With both teams seeking a three-game win streak to keep pace in a tight conference — a lot could hinge on this particular contest.
