Nov. 6—Democratic newcomer Angela Stroud won the race for the 73rd District in the Wisconsin Assembly with 58% of the vote, according to unofficial results reported early Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Stroud, a professor at Northland College, defeated Republican challenger Frank Kostka, an Ashland businessman and Air Force veteran.

"I look forward to working hard and working together as we build a better world for our kids, our elders, and ourselves," Strouf wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday.

No incumbent was on the ticket after Rep. Angie Sapik, R-Lake Nebagamon, announced she wouldn't seek a second term after the Legislature adopted new district maps earlier this year.

Sapik was the first Republican to represent the district in more than four decades.

Rep. Chanz Green, R-Grandview, held onto the 74th District Assembly seat with slightly more than 62% of the vote over Democratic challenger Jeanne Rand Bruce of Spooner.

Green was first elected to represent the 74th district in 2022.
