WACO, Texas (KWTX) - As they celebrate their milestone 20th anniversary Waco Cultural Arts is pulling out all of the stops for this weekends Arts Fest. The organization primarily spends their time advocating for art in public spaces in Waco, but this weekends event, which includes a performance stage at Indian Springs Park, serves as a one-stop-shop for local art. In addition to all of the local art they're continuing their streak of including science components in the festival as well. Their hope is to show how many similarities there are between science and the arts. After starting in 2004, the President of Waco Cultural Arts, Doreen Ravenscroft, says that over the last 20 years, their goal has largely stayed the same. "At that time, the arts in schools were getting chopped, as often as arts are it's the first," said Ravenscroft. "For me in particular, I think it's really important that the arts are available for pre-school and elementary, because that's when there's the most brain development.
