Waco-area news briefs: Crop Walk on Sunday to benefit Caritas of Waco
Mayborn Teen Takeover
A Teen Takeover event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Mayborn Museum, 1300 S. University Parks Drive.
The event is intended to give teens a chance to explore the museum after hours and have fun with friends while learning about science.

Crop Walk fundraiser
The 2024 Crop Walk benefiting Caritas of Waco will be held Sunday at the Bledsoe Miller Pavilion next to Doris D. Miller Park, 300 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Registration will start at 2 p.m., and the walk will start at 3.
Walkers participate to raise money for the 345 million people in the world who face acute food insecurity. They walk for the millions of people served by local food pantries, food banks, meal sites and disaster areas in the United States.
Calligraphy guild
The Waco Calligraphy Guild will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, 800 N. New Road.
Martha Cole, a member of Austin City Scribes, will teach a calligraphic version of the Neuland typeface.
Watercolor class
Local artist Emily Stephens, of Streams Watercolor Creations, will teach a class from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 8 at Fabled Bookshop & Cafe, 215 S. Fourth St.

Waco 175th
Historic Waco and the Waco Downtown Farmers Market will mark Waco's 175th anniversary with a passport activity from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the market, 500 Washington Ave.
Participants can meet reenactors portraying prominent people from Waco history and receive a stamp in their passport for each one.
Passports will be available from 9 to 11 at the Revision Photo Restoration booth. Stamped passports can be turned in at the Historic Waco booth for prizes, and there will also be door prizes.
Taste of McLennan County
The Arc of McLennan County will hold its Taste of McLennan County fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Karem Shrine, 400 Karem Circle.
Cost for admission is $5.
The event will include a barbecue cook-off, vendor booths and demonstrations, a pie eating contest, a sweet tea contest, music, games and pumpkin decorating.
Money raised will go to replace the air conditioning at the Arc, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Bellmead Burgers and Brews
Bellmead Burgers and Brews will run from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Bellmead Civic Center, 3900 Parrish St.
The family event is intended to draw people together and promote community involvement, featuring free music, local craft beer, food trucks and craft vendors.
Hometown hero banners
Heart of Texas Veterans One Stop and the city of Waco are offering Hometown Heroes Banners as a way for McLennan County residents to honor friends and relatives who served honorably in the U.S. armed forces. The banners cost $150 and are available for order at the Veterans One Stop, 2010 La Salle Ave.
Individuals, businesses, churches and community organizations are welcome to purchase banners or make sponsorship contributions.
Zoo runs
The H-E-B Zoo Stampede will start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Cameron Park Zoo, 1701 N. Fourth St.
It will include professionally timed 5- and 10-kilometer runs on USA Track & Field certified courses.

Holiday Bazaar
Hewitt Methodist Church, 600 First St., will hold its annual Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
The event will feature holiday gifts, many from $1 to $4, as well as gift baskets and seasonal decor.
A barbecue lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $10.
St. Louis Parish Festival
A St. Louis Parish Festival will run from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Louis Catholic Church, 2415 Cumberland Ave.
It will include food, games, cold beer and live family entertainment.
Raffle tickets are also available for prizes including a refrigerator, a washer and dryer set, and gift cards for $2,000, $1,000, $500 and $250.
Business, craft expo
The St. Jerome Women's Society's fourth annual business and craft expo will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Jerome Catholic Church's Mother Teresa Center, 9820 Chapel Road.
Admission is free. There will be more than 60 vendors displaying wares for sale, plus food trucks on-site.
Neighborhood Night
Common Grounds, 3401 Franklin Ave., will hold its first Neighborhood Night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, featuring a free screening of "Angels in the Outfield."
Blood drive
The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District, 225 W. Waco Drive, will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14 on a Carter BloodCare bus in the parking lot.
