Wastewater discharge in Sioux City reaches Missouri River, DNR says

SIOUX CITY, Iowa ( KCAU ) — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says there was a wastewater discharge here in Sioux City that reached the Missouri River.

officials were notified by the city of Sioux City about nearly 2 million gallons of untreated wastewater discharge this morning around 10:15 a.m. Which happened due to equipment failure at the Floyd lift station.

Sioux City to decide on firm for 1st phase of Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project

Iowa DNR says the wastewater went into the Bacon Creek channel with an unknown amount going into the river.

The discharge has stopped, and the lift station is back in operation. No dead fish have been found at this time.
