The 'Muff Men' were in town to celebrate the opening of the new premises for The Muff Liquor Company, founded by Donegal woman Laura Bonner.

The determined entrepreneur has taken her business to new heights with the opening of a new premises, inclusion of celebrity investors and a major launch into the US market later this year with Lucas Bols Company.

The new premises, which has been transformed from a former car garage, will include a distillery, with on-site bottling, a retail shop, offices and a gin experience area.

Ms Bonner now counts Russell Crowe, Ronan Keating, Ryan Tubridy, Ed Sheeran and Jimmy Carr among her business team as the stars have invested in the company.

Ms Bonner was inspired by her grandfather Philip McClenaghan who farmed the bountiful soil in the fields around his native Greencastle and was a poitin maker.

The distillery will create a number jobs for the area while it will also attract thousands of visitors to the area.

Ms Bonner said she is delighted with how the distillery has turned out and she is overwhelmed with the support she has received.

"I am extremely grateful and unbelievably proud – it has turned out better than we expected and the feedback has been incredible.

"The support of local people has been overwhelming too so long may it last.

"We are launching now with Lucas Bols into America with 30,000 cases heading to America for the launch on November 1, so it is upwards and onwards," said Ms Bonner.
