MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — The Carnival Spirit, the Carnival Cruise Line ship that docks in Mobile during the winter months, struck a chunk of floating ice during a trip to Alaska on Sept. 5.

Video obtained by News 5 shows the ship grazing a chunk of ice while passing.

A second video shows another boat approaching the ship in an attempt to help after the ship passed the chunk of ice.

"Carnival Spirit made contact with an errant piece of drifting ice last Thursday while sailing in Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska," read a statement from Carnival officials. "An assessment determined no damage to the ship's hull and the vessel continued on its cruise and there has been no impact to operations."

The Carnival Spirit has two ports it calls home: Mobile and Seattle.

During the summer months, the ship leaves out of Seattle and takes cruise-goers around Alaska. Some of the cities where the ship stops include Juneau and Skagway.

Once the ship is back in the Port of Mobile, it will take cruisers to Belize and Mexico.
